The 2013 Shanghai motor show -- or Auto Shanghai, as it is officially known -- is underway.

And to keep you up to date with all the latest news from the show floor, we've brought together the most interesting debuts and reveals in one place. Read on to find out about the hottest new cars which have made their debut in Shanghai.

First off, it's the new BMX X4 Concept, which is due to go on sale in the UK next year. The X4 is, as its name would suggest, designed to slot into the BMW range between the existing X3 and X5.

Audi's new A3 saloon has been given its first public reveal at the Shanghai show and will reach UK shores in the summer. It is expected to cost slightly more than the existing five-door A3 Sportback and, like the hatchback, will be available in SE, Sport and S line trims.

And, in other VW Group news, Skoda has revealed a facelifted version of its Superb and Volkswagen has unveiled its CrossBlue Coupe concept.

MG CS

MG has revealed its striking new Nissan Qashqai-rivalling MG CS SUV concept. It's unlikely that the CS will go into production until 2015 and is likely to cost from around £15,000.

And MG isn't the only firm launching an SUV concept. Citroen has wowed the crowds with its DS Wild Rubis concept, which is designed to take on the likes of the BMW X3 and Audi Q5.

Mercedes has also launched its own SUV, the new A-Class-based GLA.

Maserati Ghibli

Maserati's new Ghibli saloon has also made its debut at the Shanghai show. The Ghibli will be the first Maserati ever made to be offered with the option of a diesel engine, and will rival top-end versions of the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class when it goes on sale later this year.

Ford Escort

Ford Escort

In a shock move, Ford has resurrected the Escort name, which was last used in the UK in 2000, for a new China-only saloon car. Not strictly relevant for the UK buyer, we know, but the new Escort will be fitted with the same 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine which will be offered in the new 2014 Ford Mondeo.

Porsche has revealed an updated Panamera which, for the first time, will be offered with the choice of a hybrid powertrain. The Panamera S E-Hybrid will come with a 316bhp 3.0-litre V6 engine mated to a 94bhp electric motor and is capable of 91mpg.

If you like your supercars, you'll be interested to hear that the 217mph Icona Vulcano supercar has made its world debut in China, as has Lamborghini's new 50th birthday present to itself, the Aventador LP720-4.

Bugatti Veyron WRC

However, if these aren't fast enough for you, Bugatti is showing off its new Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse WRC, the car which recently became the world's fastest convertible after a record-breaking 254.04mph run at VW's Ehra-Lessien facility.

Infiniti has launched a new long-wheelbase version of the Q50. The car is designed particularly for the Chinese market, where car owners are more likely to be chauffeur-driven than in Europe; however, a version of the car will be sold, albeit in low numbers, in the UK from 2015.

American electric car maker Detroit Electric revealed its SP:01 electric car in Shanghai. With a top speed of 155mph and a 0-62mph time of 3.7 seconds, Detroit Electric claims that the SP:01 is the fastest electric car in the world.
