The first images of a new Volkswagen concept due to be unveiled at the Shanghai motor show have been leaked online.

The official snaps show the VW CrossBlue Coupe, a five-seat version of the CrossBlue SUV concept which went on display at the Detroit Motor Show in January.

The standard CrossBlue's styling has clearly had a huge influence on the Coupe; however, the Coupe will be smaller than the CrossBlue and features a lower roofline. In terms of size, it seems that the Coupe will be more along the lines of the Tiguan, whereas the CrossBlue was nearer to the Touareg.

Underneath, it's likely that the CrossBlue Coupe would share the MQB architecture which underpins the standard CrossBlue, as well as the Golf, the SEAT Leon and the Skoda Octavia.

Details are scarce at the moment, but we'll bring you more news on the CrossBlue Coupe when it makes its Shanghai debut this weekend.
