The coronavirus outbreak has resulted in the cancellation of this week’s planned Geneva Motor Show.
With Swiss Federal Council officials banning gatherings of more than 1,000 in an effort to slow the spread of the disease, organisers were left with no alternative but to cancel the 90th running of the show. The announcement came just three days before the show was due to start, with the decision prompted by the first confirmed case of coronavirus in Switzerland late last week. Tickets already purchased for the event will be refunded.
Maurice Turrettini, Chairman of the show’s board, said, “We regret this situation, but the health of all participants is our and our exhibitors' top priority. This is a case of force majeure and a tremendous loss for the manufacturers who have invested massively in their presence in Geneva. However, we are convinced that they will understand this decision”.
