The all-new Citroen C1 will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show next week ahead of its launch this summer.
Like the old C1, the new model will be part of a trilogy of city cars from Peugeot, Citroen and Toyota. The new Peugeot, the 108, was revealed last week; however, we've yet to see the new Toyota Aygo. All three new cars will, however, be on show in Geneva.
On the outside, the new C1 is far more striking than its predecessor, with a front end inspired by Citroen's latest models, particularly the C4 Picasso. Citroen claims that the C1's two-part headlamps and round inserts create a "smiling" front end, while the vertical LED daytime running lights emphasise the car's "cheerful design" and "strong character."
As is the current trend for small cars, buyers will be able to choose from a raft of personalisation options, with body-coloured inserts in the door panels, bright interior colours and a range of two-tone paint schemes on offer.
Three- and five-door versions will be on offer with either a conventional metal roof or, in the case of the Airscape model, a roll-back fabric roof. The C1 is only marginally bigger than the car it replaces, measuring 3.46m in length and 1.62m in width, and weighs just 840kg.
Power comes from a either a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine with 68bhp or a 1.2-litre three-pot with 82bhp. Both models will sneak under the 100g/km of CO2 limit and both will be offered with five-speed manual gearboxes as standard.
All models will get a 7-inch touchscreen in the cabin which controls the radio, phone and on-board computer, with a range of options including climate control, heated seats and a reversing camera, available as options.
The new C1 will be revealed in Geneva on 4 March.
