Lotus have given a Geneva Motor Show debut to their fastest and most powerful production model ever.
The new Lotus Evora 400, so-called because of its 400bhp, 3.5-litre V6 engine, accelerates from 0-60mph in just 4.1 seconds and boasts a top speed of 186mph. The supercharged, mid-mounted power plant enables the new Evora 400 to lap Lotus’ Hethel test track in Norfolk a full six seconds faster than the previous Evora model.
Contributing to those impressive performance figures is a new aluminium chassis and composite body which makes the new Lotus Evora 400 22kg lighter than the model it replaces.
Production of the Lotus Evora 400 will start in the summer in preparation for deliveries to start in August. With the addition of the new Evora 400 to the Lotus range, the manufacturer is planning to increase its staff by 150 and up overall output to 70 cars per week by September to meet growing demand for the Elise, Exige, and Evora models.
