Volkswagen will showcase a refreshed Sharan range at next month’s Geneva Motor Show, with new engines leading the improvements to the popular MPV.
The two TSI petrol and three TDI diesel engines on offer have undergone a complete redesign to meet the latest Euro-6 emissions standards, and as a result of the changes they are now up to 15 per cent more fuel efficient. The majority of these engine options can now be combined with the 6-speed dual clutch gearbox which provides further fuel-saving capabilities thanks to its coasting function which decouples the engine from the drive train when the accelerator pedal is disengaged.
Other improvements to the Sharan range see the standard Automatic Post-Collision Braking System joined by optional Front Assist with integrating City Emergency Braking, Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Park Assist, and Blind Spot Monitor in a comprehensive choice of driver safety assistance systems.
The latest Sharan is one of the first Volkswagen’s to come with ‘App Connect’, which maximises connectivity with Google’s Android Auto and Apple’s Car Play. The upgrades further extend to the Sharan’s interior, with new material and a restyled instrument cluster. Meanwhile, on the outside, the rear light cluster has been enhanced with the addition of LED technology.
The updated Sharan range will be launched in Volkswagen’s domestic German market this summer, with other European markets to follow.
