The Dynamique is a car that comes with much refined and high quality performance and looks. The diesel engine gives you much cheaper road tax and better fuel economy along with lower emissions. In short, its engine offers the best mix of pace along with economy at competitive prices.

PROS:  Renault offers a best balance of price and performance with this version and the engine is powerful enough that you don’t need to work it hard.

CONS:  This one may make the passengers feel uncomfortable due to small rear windows and dark interiors.

Behind the Wheel

This model comes with a 1997 cc unleaded engine which has the decent power capable of a top speed of 121 mph, and can reach 0-62 mph in just 10.3 seconds. The engine produces 140 bhp at 6000rpm and torque values of 144 lb-ft at 3750rpm, resulting in quite good and punchy performance and a combined efficiency of 37.2 mpg.

Even if you speed up this four cylinder engine, it will produce less noise in comparison to others. The main highlight of this model is its CVT Automatic gearbox which provides useable power, better fuel economy and a smoother driving experience than the traditional automatic one.

There's some wind and road noise at speed, but the engine's throaty boom settles into the background on the motorway. The abrupt clutch action takes some level of adjustment but the gearshift is short and sweet.

Looks & Equipment

This model comes with high quality sports seats, leather bound steering wheel, cruise control, MP3 connectivity, CD player, Bluetooth connectivity, satellite navigation system, air conditioner, electric door mirrors, electric front windows, metallic paint finish, stability control and climate control all as standard features.

This Coupe comes with good range of standard sports seats to provide comfort, The seats can be adjusted, as can the steering wheel, to provide the best driving position. Its decent dashboard, yellow rev counter, a unique steering wheel and aluminium pedal makes this model a comfortable and stylish car.

In all, this one comes with all new classy and posh looks. The interior is pretty with superbly comfortable and supportive seats making this car a perfect combination of good looks and outstanding performance.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

The Megane comes with plenty of space in the front for those with long legs, but there is not much headroom available as compared to some rivals. Rear seat passengers in particular will be uncomfortable on long journeys with legroom also tight. However, the boot is of a good size and shape measuring at 344 litres with the seats up and 991 litres with the seats folded down.

All the models provide the utmost safety measures and Renault ranks pretty high with airbags for the driver, passenger and front side of the car to protect passengers from any collision. It also comes with central locking, stability control, rear parking sensors and an alarm to safeguard the vehicle from any danger of accident or theft.

The Megane has high-grade materials and a good standard of fit and finish and that’s enough to give the cabin an impressively classy feel. There are some concerns, though as Renault has not always performed well for reliability and despite the impressive three year, 100,000 mile warranty there could still be some worry over the cars long term dependability.

Value for Money

This model is considered as bit of an expensive car at £20,690 and running costs are higher than in other models. CO2 emissions of 175 g/km bump the car into a much high road tax band (H) and although insurance falls into a mid-range band (17) refuelling costs will be moderate and this means customers could face fairly expensive bills during ownership.

That said, resale values are strong and that means that, as an investment, buyers could do a lot worse for their money.
