PROS: Smooth and refined ride. Reliable and spacious. Great for families.
CONS: Not very fast. Not much equipment.
This car can reach a top speed of 121 mph, which is expected of a car of this type. Acceleration is not particularly quick, taking 12.3 seconds to accelerate from 0-62 mph thanks to a power output of 118 bhp.
Refinement is good and very little noise can be heard inside the cabin, even at high speeds, as the model is an accomplished motorway cruiser. The sharp and responsive steering of the Mondeo makes for a smooth and enjoyable drive.
This vehicle can have greater road presence with the option of alloy wheels for £350, and its exterior can look slightly more unique as there is an option for the car to be painted in metallic for an additional £545.
The interior is relatively basic; leather seats are not an option. The car does come included with Bluetooth as standard, but in order to have the privilege of satellite navigation, rear parking sensors or MP3 connectivity there will be further costs on top of the purchase price of the car.
For satellite navigation drivers will be charged £1,600 and MP3 connectivity is also included in this price. Rear parking sensors cost £450. Cruise control is however a standard feature, as are electric door mirrors and electric front windows.
The car has reasonable boot space, which is perhaps more important for families. When the rear seats are folded there is 1,448 litres of free space, and when the seats are up there is still a spacious 528 litres to fill with belongings.
In terms of security, the car is well secured as it has central locking as standard, and an alarm is also fitted. Both of these standard features protect the car when it is left unattended and combine with a number of airbags to make this car safe and secure.
The car is covered under warranty for three years, or up to 60,000 miles. This provides peace of mind for divers to know that throughout this duration the car is covered.
The car has good safety features, and the ultimate in car entertainment can be purchased for an extra charge, but when consumers are buying the car for £17,795 some may expect these extras to be included and that means value for money is lowered. Its fuel economy of 41.5mpg is not too bad, but certainly not class leading. The model is a reliable family car but poor levels of equipment let it down in erms of value for money.
