The Ford Mondeo 1.6T Eco Boost (Start/Stop) Titanium 5dr is well put together and it provides a comfortable and spacious journey for a family. For extra luxuries owners will have to pay a considerable amount, which may not suit families especially as other cars on the market are incorporating such features in the purchase price of the vehicle.

This car is not a cheap purchase, but it will be relatively cheap to run and that means it may be an attractive option for families.

PROS:  This car performs well with an average of 44.1 mpg. Most family vehicles are regularly used so with optimal miles to the gallon families will benefit from this good efficiency. The car has central locking and an alarm to give it maximum security and this makes it ideal for families.

CONS:  There are a few additional costs involved for drivers that wish to have either leather seats, rear parking sensors, metallic paint or satellite navigation added and this could be surprising as the cost of the car is fairly steep itself, at £22,445.

Behind the Wheel

This car can make a typical top speed of 130 mph, which is expected of a car such as this. It is also quite fast when accelerating too, travelling from 0-62 mph in 9.6 seconds. The cars power output is 158 bhp which is fairly strong for a car of this class.

Handling is great with plenty of grip on the road and sharp handling. The steering is responsive as well and whilst there are numerous options for the suspension the standard set-up works perfectly and is the best choice.

Looks & Equipment

The car is enhanced with alloy wheels as a standard feature of this model but updating the rest of the interior with a metallic paint finish will cost an extra £545.

The interior of the car has added comfort and luxury as drivers and passengers can enjoy the luxury of leather seating for an extra cost of £1,550. The car does come with exciting extras such as MP3 connectivity and Bluetooth at no extra cost making in-car entertainment all the more enjoyable. Cruise control is another standard feature that will make long journeys more smooth and comfortable.

Rear parking sensors can be fitted for £450. Satellite navigation is also available but this will cost drivers £1,000.

Air conditioning is not available with this model because the more advanced climate control option features throughout the range instead. Electric front windows and electric door mirrors are standard too.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

The car has a good amount boot space, which is perhaps more important for families. When the rear seats are folded there is a roomy 1,728 litres of free space in the boot and when the seats are in position there isstill a decent 537 litres to fill with belongings.

In terms of security, the car is well secured as the car has central locking as standard and an alarm is also fitted to protect it from theft. This is in addition to numerous airbags fitted to protect the occupants and meand that the all-round security levels of this car are high.

The car is covered under warranty for three years, or up to 60,000 miles. This provides peace of mind for divers to know that throughout this duration there car is covered and means reliability should not be an issue.

Value for Money

This car does include exciting technological advances such as in car MP3 connectivity and Bluetooth, but other luxuries such as satellite navigation and rear-parking sensors would perhaps be expected as the car is priced at £22,445. This is quite expensive for an estate family car however, the generous boot space and five-door access are convenient components for families and could make it an attractive option.

Running costs are fairly average too with insurance premiums relatively mid-range under price bracket 19 and road tax falling under band F with carbon emissions of 149 g/km. Fuel efficiency of 44.1 mpg is also average and this means the car won't be overly pricey to keep on the road.
