For those eager to get behind the wheel of an open-topped Audi TT, this model is a great option. It offers higher performance levels than the 1.8 TFSI Sport Roadster which combine with the cars attractive exterior to offer a spectacular vehicle.

PROS:  Impressive performance, good looks.

CONS:  Expensive, limited practicality.

Behind the Wheel

The 2.0 litre engine in the TT Roadster 2.0 TFSI S line produces 208 bhp at 4300-6000 rpm with 258 lb-ft of torque achieved at 1500-4200 rpm. Top speed is 151 mph and 0-62 mph takes a very brisk 6.2 seconds. The 2.0 TFSI S line is therefore a very quick car.

The handling is excellent without even the slightest whiff of scuttle shake. The soft-top roof also does a very good job of insulating the cabin from noise and the steering is crisp, direct and responds well to the input of the driver.

Looks & Equipment

There is a good range of standard equipment included in this car. Standard features include power steering, central locking, stability control, alloy wheels, climate control, electric door mirrors, electric front windows, a part leather interior and an advanced stereo system with CD player and MP3 connectivity.

Additional features such as Bluetooth connectivity, a built in sat nav, rear parking sensors and cruise control are all available for an extra cost. Bluetooth connectivity costs £250 whilst the built-in sat nav, rear parking sensors and cruise control cost £665, £305 and £220 respectively. Metallic paint will cost you an extra £510.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

The TT comes fitted with driver, passenger and front side airbags as standard. An alarm and immobiliser are also fitted to protect the vehicle from theft and the car comes with a three year warranty for 60,000 miles. A service interval of 9,000-19,000 miles is recommended and that means maintenance costs can vary but reliability should be strong.

In terms of practicality the boot offers 250 litres of space which is less than the Coupe equivalent.

With the roof down, taller drivers will need a low seating position in order to get comfortable and this could cause problems in terms of practicality. That being said, there is a lot of adjustment within the front seats and the steering column. The internal instruments are well arranged and that makes operating them easy when driving.

Value for Money

The TT Roadster 2.0 TFSI S line costs £31,110 which is quite a lot for a TT when you consider that the base 1.8 TFSI comes in at just over 25 grand.

The Audi TT Roadster 2.0 TFSI S-line will not be particularly cheap to run and, while the fuel economy of 42.2 mpg is decent for a sports car, the TT runs on Super Unleaded. Carbon emissions are moderate at 156g/km are also high and put the car into road tax bracket G. Insurance premiums will be the same as in the 2.0 TFSI Sport Coupe – falling under insurance bracket 34.
