The 1.8 litre engine delivers 158 bhp at 4500-6300 rpm and 184 lb-ft of torque at 1500-4500 rpm. Performance credentials are strong with the TT hitting a top speed of 149 mph and accelerating from 0-62 mph in 7.2 seconds.
Purists will say that the TT is not a proper sports car because of its front-wheel-drive layout. However, the TT handles fantastically and offers plenty of grip. The steering is very fluid and responds well to the driver's input. The ride is also exceptional given the TT's sporting credentials.
The Audi TT Coupe 1.8 TFSI Sport is exceptionally well equipped offering power steering, central locking, stability control, alloy wheels, climate control, electric door mirrors, electric front windows, a part-leather interior and an advanced stereo system with CD player and MP3 connectivity all as standard.
Additional features such as Bluetooth connectivity, a built in sat nav, rear parking sensors and cruise control are all available for an extra cost. Bluetooth connectivity costs £250 whilst the built-in sat nav, rear parking sensors and cruise control cost £665, £305 and £220 respectively. Metallic paint will be a wise investment and will ensure good resale values, costing £510.
There is a lot of adjustment within the front seats and the steering column and that means that drivers have lots of opportunities to get comfortable. The internal instruments are well arranged which means they are easy to operate.
In terms of safety, this model comes fitted with driver, passenger and front side airbags as standard. An alarm and immobiliser are also fitted to protect the vehicle from theft and the car comes with a three year warranty for 60,000 miles which means reliability shouldn't be a problem.
In terms of practicality the boot offers 292 litres of space when the seats are up, increasing this to 700 litres when the seats are down. This makes it far more practical for everyday use although the TT is still useless if you've got a lot to carry.
At £24,070, this is the cheapest TT that you can buy and you get a very good looking desirable car for the money.
Fuel consumption is fairly good for a car of this calibre, achieving a surprising 44.1 mpg, and carbon emissions of 149g/km mean the car is placed into road tax bracket F - again, relatively low for a car of this type. Insurance will be fairly high under bracket 32 but this is still cheaper than some sports car models - making this model a fairly good investment.
As a popular model, one of the main benefits of the Audi TT is that it holds its value well. This means that depreciation is limited, thus making the Audi TT Coupe 1.8 TFSI Sport a wise investment for those who have the cash to spare.
