PROS: The 911 Carrera 4S PDK Cabriolet looks sensational, drives brilliantly and offers plenty of grip thanks to its superb chassis and four-wheel drive system.
CONS: Very pricey and not particularly spacious.
The Carrera 4S's 3.8-litre flat-six churns out 380bhp and 309lb-ft of torque. 0-62mph takes 4.7 seconds and flat out you'll be doing 183mph. The PDK gearbox makes changing gear effortless and quick and shaves 0.2 seconds off the 0-62mph time.
Nothing else feels like a 911 to drive. The turn-in is quick and there is plenty of grip thanks to the finely balanced chassis and the four-wheel drive system. The ride is also surprisingly composed given the 911's ferocious power.
The Cabriolet bodystyle makes the 911 even better to drive as you can experience all this power with the wind in your hair. At speed there is quite a lot of road noise although you'll be having too much fun to notice.
The 911 is a great looking car, both inside and out, and the interior is superbly well made from high quality materials.
Standard equipment includes alloy wheels, climate control, electric windows, leather seats and a CD player. Optional extras include Sat-Nav (£1311), Bluetooth (£445), MP3 connectivity (£227), rear parking sensors (£348), cruise control (£299) and metallic paint (£745).
Porsches are phenomenally reliable cars and there should be no worries on this front. A 3 year/unlimited mileage warranty is inluded as standard.
The 911 is surprisingly practical and has a boot space of 135-litres. The rear seats are only suitable for children but there are plenty of storage solutions inside the cabin.
As with any convertible, the roof will be a weak point for security, but the presence of standard deadlocks and an alarm compensates for this.
Every 911 comes with front, side airbags and head airbags. Porsche's stability management system is fitted as standard, and anti-rollover bars pop up behind the rear seats in the event of a rollover.
The 911 Carrera 4S 3.8 PDK Cabriolet 2dr is not cheap and costs £90,862. However, this is a prestige sports car and, if it wasn't so expensive, it wouldn't be so desirable. It is also an astonishingly good car for the money and could therefore be considered good value.
It won't be cheap to run. You'll get 26.4mpg if you drive like a saint, which you won't because that would defeat the point of having a 911. CO2 emissions of 251g/km also make for high road tax costs under VED band L.
