The GTS Coupe is wider than a standard 911 and this shows when you're hammering it around a bend; the GTS just grips and grips. 911 purists will prefer the standard Carrera model but if you're looking for an everyday supercar with head-turning looks and bucketloads of power, this is a fine choice.

PROS:  The 911 looks beautiful, handles like a dream and goes like the clappers.

CONS:  It will be expensive to buy and run and purists will tell you that the standard 911 is a better handling car.

Behind the Wheel

The Carrera 4 GTS PDK Coupe's 1.8-litre flat-six develops 408bhp and 309lb-ft of torque. This means 0-62mph takes 4.4 seconds and flat out you'll be doing 186mph. The GTS has an extra 23bhp more than the standard Carrera and, while this doesn't sound a lot, it does make a big difference and the GTS feels substantially faster.

The PDK gearbox makes driving the GTS effortless and cuts the 0-62mph by two tenths of a second by delivering lightning-fast gear changes.

The GTS handles like no other car. There's an immense amount of grip on offer and the finely balanced chassis makes the car agile and crisp.

Looks & Equipment

The 911 Carrera 4 GTS PDK Coupe 3dr looks great and although it is based on the old 997 model, it still looks bang up to date and classy in a timeless way. The interior is also beautifully put together from quality materials.

Standard equipment includes alloy wheels, climate control, electric windows, alcantara seats and a CD player.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

Every 911 is equipped with twin front, side and curtain airbags and a sophisticated stability control system. The car has an alarm, immobiliser and central locking system which should make it secure.

The reliability of the car is quite high as Porsche use only the finest materials and the attention to detail is clearly very good indeed.

Space in the front is excellent, although the compact rear seats are next to useless for adults. There are plenty of cubby holes for storage and a good-sized glove box. The rear-mounted engine means the boot is beneath the bonnet, but although it's deep, the opening is narrow and there's only 105-litres on offer.

Value for Money

At £85,670, the 911 Carrera 4 GTS PDK Coupe 3dr is not cheap but, given the amount of car on offer you could argue that it represents good value. It won't be cheap to run either and you'll only manage 26.9mpg if you drive like an undertaker. CO2 emissions of 247g/km mean that the GTS falls under VED band L which will make road tax expensive.
