PROS: With plenty of space inside the Peugeot 3008 Allure is a comfortable, practical car with strong performance from the diesel engine.
CONS: With no dynamic body control this car can suffer from body roll, and visibility at the back is somewhat limited.
A 16 valve, 4 cylinder engine produces a power of 150bhp at 3750rpm, and torque of 250lb-ft at 2000rpm. With a top speed of 121mph and the ability to accelerate from 0-62 in 9.7 seconds you get strong performance for a car of this size.
Although the 6-speed manual transmission only drives the front wheels, Peugeot have tried to make the 3008 Allure a but more rugged with something they call a 'grip control system', which optimizes the traction control when you are driving in difficult conditions such as mud, snow, or wet grass.
The diesel engine in this version cannot match the performance of its petrol counterpart, of course, but strikes a good balance between performance and efficiency.
In terms of handling the absence of body control as standard does cause problems with roll, but you can choose to upgrade if you wish and get Peugeot's 'Dynamic Roll Control package', which is of a good quality.
The design of this car, both inside and out, is attractive with a high quality feel, but is also a bit plain looking. This can be improved, however, with the option of a panoramic glass roof.
The equipment list includes stability control, cruise control, climate control, rear parking sensor, power steering, central locking, electric door mirrors, alloy wheels, and a basic music system with CD player with MP3 connectivity.
With 6 airbags and the highest NCAP occupant safety rating of 5 you can be confident that you and your passengers are as safe as possible in the Peugeot 3008 Allure.
As a practical family vehicle the 3008 Allure also performs well and is very versatile. With the seats up you get 512-litres of boot storage, but with a convenient split-tailgate and a moveable floor in the boot that has 3 different positions, plus rear seats which split 60 /40, there are lots of options and you can increase the boot storage to 1604 with the floor flat and all of the seats put down.
This car can manage 50.4mpg and has a clean engine with low emissions of 145g/km. It comes under the 20F insurance group and has a 3 year, 6,000 mile warranty.
The £22,795 list price makes this an affordable option which will make you feel that your money has gone a long way. And with the fuel efficient diesel engine the running costs are reasonable.
