The 3008's 1.6-litre petrol engine develops 120bhp and 118lb-ft of torque. It's far from the best engine in the range but it delivers respectable performance figures, propelling the 3008 from 0-62mph in 11.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 115mph which is perfectly adequate for a car like this.
There is surprisingly little wind noise at speed despite the 3008's tall, boxy shape. However, the ride is very harsh and the car leans horribly through the corners.
The 3008 looks great with its smooth, contemporary lines, and attractive profile. The quality of the interior is also very good and everything feels solidly put together.
Standard kit is a bit basic and includes air-con, electric front windows and a CD player. Alloy wheels and sat-nav are unavailable and there a number of features only available at an extra cost. Cruise control will cost you £265, and Bluetooth and Sat-nav are a joint option at £735 for the pair.
Peugeot don't have the best reputation for reliability but the 3008 feels better made than any Peugeot we can remember and is offered with a 3 year/60,000 mile warranty.
Euro NCAP awarded the 3008 the full five stars in its crash tests and, as such, the 3008 should be a very safe car.
The rear seats are a little cramped but the 3008 offers an impressive 512-litres of boot space with the rear seats up and 1604-litres with the seats down.
The 3008 Access 1.6 VTi is very reasonably priced at £17,195 and offers good value for money despite its lack of standard equipment.
