CarSite Verdict:  2.5/5
The Peugeot 207 1.4 8V Access 5dr is a practical estate car at a reasonable price. It offers enough space to carry around five people and their luggage but the performance is woeful and there is a question mark over reliability.

PROS:  The 207 SW Access 1.4 offers a lot of practicality for the money, has a smooth ride and relatively low running costs.

CONS:  Basic level of standard kit. Very slow.

Behind the Wheel

Peugeot 207 Access 1.4 8V 5dr offers a miserable 74bhp and 90lb-ft of torque. 0-62mph takes 16.5 seconds and you'll be going flat out at 104mph.

There is bit of wind noise from roof bars but it’s not that irritating and road and suspension noise are also limited. However, the engine makes a little bit of noise when worked, settling down at a cruise.

Looks & Equipment

The 207 SW Access 1.4 is a fairly good looking car. Features like a smart dashboard and slick controls, metallic highlights around vents and dials adds to the feel of quality.

This entry level Access model comes with standard equipment like power steering, remote central locking, radio & CD player, electric front windows and front fog lights. However it is lacking when it comes to luxuries and features such as air conditioning and Bluetooth are missing.

Practicality, Safety & Reliability

This 207 SW Access 1.4 provides more legroom for the rear passengers as the bench seat is mounted further back and higher up. It comes with split folding rear seats to make the interior space more versatile. With an adjustable driver’s seat and a steering wheel which can be adjusted in two directions, this car also offers high levels of comfort for the driver.

The electronic stooping aid, fog lights, four airbags and anti-lock brakes with stability control, electrically operated child locks on rear doors, remote central locking and deadlocks offer high levels of safety and security and make this a practicaly car for families.

The standard 207 on which this car is based is very poor in the reliability stakes and performed badly in the JD Power Survey.

Value for Money

It’s quite an affordable car with low running costs, and you could secure a good discount. This model costs £11,995 and falls under insurance group 6 with road tax costs falling under tax band F. This means insurance costs are low but road tax is a little steep - caused by carbon emissions of 149g/km.

Fuel economy of 44.1 mpg is offered which makes the car fairly cheap to keep on the road with the reliability issues the only major concern for buyers.
