The new ultra-light Zenos E10 sports car will be unveiled for the first time at the Autosport International show in Birmingham next month.
The Zenos E10, which was first hinted at in a series of development sketches back in October, is the first model to come from Zenos Cars, a partnership between former Caterham Cars CEO Ansar Ali and COO Mark Edwards. Ali and Edwards are former Lotus colleagues who have over 30 years of experience in the niche sports car sector.
Although completely road legal, the E10 is a track-focussed, open-top, two-seater sports car, powered by a mid-mounted 2.0-litre Ford engine which produces 200bhp. Thanks to a low kerb weight of just 650kg, the E10 has a power-to-weight ratio of 300bhp per tonne and will get from 0-62mph in under five seconds.
The car's chassis consists of a single aluminium backbone which spans the length of the car, an aluminium rear subframe and a safety cell which incorporates twin roll hoops and side impact protection.
The driver and passenger sit either side of the aluminium spin in an integrated carbon-fibre composite monocoque with a thermoplastic core which Zenos describes as a "lightweight, strong and cost-effective solution".
The car's unique construction also provides it with its name. 'Zen' represents purity, while 'os' is a loose Latin translation for vertebra.
The E10 will go into production in late 2014, with the first customer deliveries expected during the first quarter of 2015.
Further technical details, as well as pricing, will be announced when the E10 makes its debut at the Autosport International show.
