Volvo’s cast-iron reputation for safety has been further enhanced after the XC60 was confirmed as the top performing car in Euro NCAP crash tests last year.
With a near-perfect 98% for Adult Occupant Protection, and a 95% score for Safety Assistance that was 20 percentage points higher than its closest class competitor, the XC60 was crowned the safest Large Off-Road vehicle at the prestigious Euro NCAP 2017 Best in Class safety awards. By also claiming the overall crown, the XC60 follows in the footsteps of the XC90, which won both the Large Off-Road category as well as best-performing car overall at the 2015 awards.
“Our vision is that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo car,” said Malin Ekholm, vice president of the Volvo Cars Safety Centre. “The achievements of the XC60 are examples of our commitment to developing the latest safety and support systems as we strive towards that vision.”
