Volvo V40 is UK's safest used car | Awards - Car News Jul 2018

Volvo have yet another safety award to put on their mantelpiece after collecting a prestigious insurance industry title.

For the third year in success the Volvo V40 has been crowned Safest Used Car for Families at the Co-op Insurance Safest Used Car Awards, The Volvo V40 with Driver Support Pack won the overall title just as it did in 2016 and 2017.

A wide range of five-star rated Euro NCAP used family cars were analysed by Co-op Insurance and their award partners Thatcham Research for crash worthiness, including ratings for adult, child and pedestrian protection, and the availability of Autonomous Emergency Braking which the V40 comes with as standard.  Euro NCAP gave the Volvo V40 an unprecedented safety assist score of 100% when it was first tested on launch back in 2012, when also became the first car in the world to be fitted with a pedestrian airbag to help protect pedestrians in an accident. With the Driver Support Pack fitted, the V40 also boasts pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, blind spot protection, and lane assist.
