Prospective buyers of the new Suzuki Ignis, which launches in January, will be keen to learn the outcome of Euro NCAP crash tests on the model.
The decisive factor in how well the Suzuki Ignis performs in testing is the Dual Camera Brake Support system (DCBS), which incorporates stereo cameras mounted each side of the drivers view mirror. Acting in a way simulating the human eye, the DCBS detects objects ahead - including pedestrians - and alerts the driver, applying full automatic braking necessary.
Ignis models that don’t feature the DCBS could only manage a disappointing three stars out of five from NCAP crash testing. DCBS can be chosen as an option, and it could well be a wise choice as models fitted with the system – such as the Ignis SZ5 which includes DCBS as standard – saw their score leap to the full five stars.
Suzuki will be announcing the full specification and pricing structure next week ahead of the model’s January sales launch.
