Ssangyong have unveiled the latest generation Rexton SUV at the Seoul Motor Show.
Developed under the project name Y400, the new Rexton borrows heavily from the LIV-2 concept model unveiled by Ssangyong at last year’s Paris Motor Show. The company’s flagship model also shares styling cues with its smaller sibling the Tivoli, including rising character lines on each flank and the radiator grille designed to resemble a bird in flight.
Sector first 20-inch wheels, daytime running lights, and LED fog, side, and indicator lights add to the all-new Rexton’s premium feel. Available in both rear and all-wheel drive, the all-new Rexton boasts Nappa leather seats with driver’s seat and door mirror memory function.
Drivetrain choices incluse a 2.2 litre turbo diesel engine with Mercedes-Benz 7-speed automatic transmission, or a 2.0 litre turbo petrol engine paired with an Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission.
A comprehensive safety suite features nine airbags, including knee-airbag for the driver and side-airbags in the rear. With almost two-thirds of the structure made from high-strength steel, the new Rexton has improved body strength as well as reduced weight. Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Detection and a Front Vehicle Start Alarm, and 3D Around View Monitoring is also including.
The all-new Rexton’s technology package includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with device mirroring, with a wide 9.20-inch HD infotainment screen.
Ssangyong will launch the Rexton in its domestic Korean market first, with worldwide sales release to follow by the end of this year.
