Audi have taken the covers off the new RS 4 Avant at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The fourth generation Audi RS 4 has a 444bhp 2.9-litre V6 BiTurbo TFSI engine and Quattro drive as standard, sprinting from 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds to a 155mph top speed, increasing to 174mph with the optional RS dynamic package. The model has an 8-speed tiptronic transmission with optimised ratios, and returns 32.1mpg combined with 199g/km of CO2 emissions. UK models will also feature a rear sport differential as standard.
The Audi RS 4 Avant takes a number of design inspirations from motorsport, including huge honeycomb air inlets and flat Singleframe grille, and flared wheel arches. To the rear is an RS-specific diffuser insert, oval exhaust tailpipes, and RS roof edge spoiler. There are 19-inch forged aluminium wheels as standard, with 20-inch wheels available as an option. The RS sport suspension sets the Audi RS 4 Avant seven millimetres lower than the standard A4 with sport suspension, and has Dynamic Ride Control, ceramic brakes, and RS-specific dynamic steering available as optional additions.
A black interior boasts RS sport seats with optional honeycomb pattern, flat-bottomed RS leather multifunction sport steering wheel, RS-branded shift gate and illuminated door sill trims. The Audi virtual cockpit is standard in the UK, with RS-specific displays indicating g-force, tyre pressures and torque. The styling package includes gloss black, carbon with aluminium attachments and carbon with black attachments.
Full pricing and specification details will be confirmed closer to sales launch.
