Skoda has claimed no less than FIVE trophies at the Carbuyer of the Year awards, more than any other brand.
Skoda’s two latest arrivals onto the new market both marked their debuts by collecting best-in-class titles. The new Skoda Scala, which went on sale in the summer, fought off stiff competition to top the Family Car category, while the Kamiq city SUV launched by the Czech brand last month triumphed in the Best Small SUV class.
Skoda’s flagship Superb model bagged a brace of titles. The hatchback scooped the Best Large Family Car award, with the estate model doing likewise in the Best Estate Car category, both models being lauded by the Carbuyer judging panel for their practicality and build quality. It is the second year in a row that the Skoda Superb estate has been named best-in-class by Carbuyer.
Also recording successive class wins is the Skoda Citigo, which retained the Best City Car title it first lifted twelve months ago. The Citigo’s back-to-back win comes as Skoda prepares to phase out petrol-power in its popular city car in favour of a new electric version called the CITIGO iV.
Skoda has enjoyed a hugely successful 2019, lifting more than 20 leading automotive industry titles overall.
