Porsche has revealed the first images of its new, revised Porsche Panamera Turbo S ahead of its debut at the Tokyo Motor Show next month.
As you can see from the pictures, the new Panamera Turbo S has been subjected to the same raft of visual tweaks introduced across the rest of the Panamera range earlier this year. There's a new front bumper, new headlamps, bigger air intakes and a revised rear end.
But it's underneath the bonnet that the big changes have taken place. Porsche has taken the 4.2-litre V8 engine from the old Turbo S and extracted a further 20bhp from it, bringing the total tally up to an impressive 562bhp. Torque is up too from 517lb-ft to 553lb-ft, while an overboost raises this figure to 590lb-ft for short bursts.
This extra power has been achieved with two new turbochargers with large compressors which operate at a higher pressure -- 140 bar up from 120 bar. There are also new pistons made from a new aluminium alloy and specially coated piston rings.
As a result, the new Panamera Turbo S doesn't exactly hang about. Although the 0-62mph remains unchanged at 3.8 seconds, top speed has increased by 3mph to 193mph. On top of this, Porsche claims an 11 per cent improvement in the Panamera's fuel economy figures, with the new car returning a claimed 27.7mpg.
The new Panamera Turbo S is on sale now, with prices starting from £131,049. The first UK deliveries are expected in January 2014.
