The Peugeot 208 has been named 2020 European Car of the Year.

The all-new 208 has been an instant hit, with almost 110,000 sold since it was launched last October.  Of those, 15% are powered by electricity, with the versatile 208 boasting a choice of electric, petrol, or diesel motors.  The supermini is currently the best-selling car in Peugeot’s domestic French market.

Peugeot have enjoyed over half a century of success in the awards, winning the prize for the first time in 1969 with the 504 model.  The 208’s success is the sixth time Peugeot have won the award.

The coveted Car of the Year award is decided by a 60-strong panel of motoring journalists from 23 European countries, and has traditionally been announced at the Geneva Motor Show every year since 1964.
