MINI has revealed a new range of driver assist systems which will appear on future models, including the all-new MINI Hatch which is due out next year.
The most notable of these features is a new head-up display which displays information such as the current speed limit, traffic signs and the vehicle speed in the driver's line of vision, without the driver having to take his or her eyes off the road.
In addition to this, collision warning and pedestrian warning systems will also be included, as will a city braking function. Parking will also be made easier by MINI's parking assist feature and a reversing camera which gives better visibility when manoeuvring.
Other innovations include a video-based speed and distance control system which automatically keeps a safe distance from the car in front and a digital headlight assist function which uses a camera to detect oncoming traffic and following vehicles, automatically switching from full-beam to dimmed headlights to avoid blinding other drivers.
The new MINI will be launched at the company's Oxford plant on 18 November, before making simultaneous global debuts at the LA and Tokyo Motor Shows later the same month.
