Ford have confirmed that their all-new Focus RS will appear at next week’s New York International Auto Show as the car maker prepares to launch the model globally.
The first European deliveries of the new Focus RS will start early next year, but Ford will be introducing the model in markets all over the world, including – for the first time – the North American market.
One of the most noticeable features of the Focus RS on display in New York will be the Nitrous Blue paint finish, a new hue which Ford say will be the signature colour for the new model.
The all-new Focus RS, one of a dozen new performance models planned by Ford over the next five years, also features the latest Ford Performance All-Wheel-Drive system with Dynamic Torque Vectoring, and a specially-engineered 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine. The all-aluminium, four-cylinder power plant is expected to deliver in excess of 315bhp. For the first time, the Focus RS will be equipped with Launch Control, and selectable Drive Modes – including a Drift Mode which allows for controlled oversteer drifts.
In addition the signature Nitrous Blue, the Focus RS will also be offered in Shadow Black, Magnetic Grey, and Frozen White metallic paint schemes.
The all-new Focus RS is the 30th car - and third Focus - to wear the RS badge, and was developed by Ford Performance engineers on both sides of the Atlantic. Production of the model will commence later this year at Ford’s Saarlouis plant in Germany.
"This is the ultimate Focus - stunning to look at and entirely fit for purpose," said Joel Piaskowski, Ford of Europe Design Director.
“RS models have always been striking, high-performance cars where function is paramount. This new Focus RS is true to that heritage."
