This is the fastest Bentley the company has ever made: the new Bentley Continental GT Speed.
Bentley has increased the power from the GT Speed's 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine by 10bhp over the old model, giving a total output of 626bhp. This means that while the old GT Speed would be out of puff at 205mph, the new car will hit -- wait for it -- 206mph. And, whichever way you cut it, that's faster. The Convertible, meanwhile, will manage 203mph.
The GT Speed's chassis has also been lowered and stiffened and a number of styling tweaks have been added. The front splitter, side skirts and rear diffuser are painted in the same colour as the body for the first time and a dark tint finish has been applied to the 21-inch alloys, headlamps and tail lamps. Red-painted brake callipers and a smattering of "Speed" badges complete the visual transformation.
Elsewhere in the Bentley range, the Flying Spur is now available with a new V8 engine alongside the existing flagship W12 model. The new unit, a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged lump, produces 500bhp and 487lb-ft of torque which is enough to propel the car to 62mph in 5.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 183mph.
A range of 520 miles is reportedly possible thanks to the inclusion of cylinder deactivation, intelligent thermal management and electrical recuperation technology.
The new Continental GT Speed and the V8 Flying Spur will both be on the Bentley stand at next week's Geneva Motor Show.
