Bentley has revealed the first images of its new Flying Spur. The new model will be faster, more powerful and more economical than its predecessor, and will go on display at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

At first glance, the new Flying Spur looks broadly similar to the outgoing model; however, there are some subtle differences. The roof line is lower and the headlamps larger, and the car has been given a more muscular stance by the fitment of a more upright grille and rear wheel arches inspired by the Bentley Mulsanne.

On the inside, the Flying Spur features 600 new parts -- in fact, only the sun visors, grab handles, armrests and 'some of the front console and controls' have been carried over from the old car. Special attention has been paid, understandably, to rear seat passengers, and buyers will be able to opt for either a three-seat rear bench or two individual rear seats. Passengers in the back will also be able to adjust the car's climate control and infotainment systems via a remote situated in the centre console.

Under the bonnet, the Flying Spur comes with the same 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 as the old model, but Bentley has upped the power output from 552bhp to 616bhp. The upshot of this is that the Flying Spur will hit 62mph in 4.3 seconds, a figure helped by the fact that the new model is 50kg lighter than before.

Prices will be confirmed when the car goes on display in Geneva, but expect the Flying Spur to cost from around £140,000 when it goes on sale in the summer.
