MINI will unveil its new John Cooper Works concept at the Detroit Motor Show next month.
The new John Cooper Works concept is based on the all-new third-generation MINI Hatch which was revealed last month. It features a new paintjob and bodykit and is fitted with new 18-inch alloy wheels.
Like the new MINI, the John Cooper Works concept features a longer wheelbase and a wider track than the outgoing model, which MINI claims will have a positive impact on the car's driving dynamics.
It's unclear what engine the JCW will be fitted with; however, it seems likely that the new car will be powered by a tuned version of the 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit fitted to the Cooper S. Expect a power output of around 220bhp.
The John Cooper Works model can be distinguished from the standard MINI Hatch by its larger air intakes, new front bumper and grille surround and full LED headlights. At the back there's a new apron, diffuser, a new sports exhaust and a new rear spoiler.
MINI has yet to announce a launch date or any pricing and specification details for the new John Cooper Works but expect the new car to go on sale sometime next year with a price tag slightly in excess of the current car's £22,460.
