The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter celebrated its 20th birthday in style by scooping a trio of prestigious industry awards.
The model claimed the inaugural Commercial Vehicle of the Year title at the Commercial Fleet Awards 2015. In addition, the Sprinter also collected the Large Panel Van of the Year award, as well as Best Van Chassis Derivative, having impressed the judging panel of industry experts ahead of the event at the International Centre in Telford.
Stephen Briers, Commercial Fleet Editor-in-Chief, heaped further praise in the Sprinter by calling it ‘quite simply the standard by which all vans should be measured’.
Originally launched in 1995, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter already boasts a bulging trophy cabinet, having been crowned Large Panel Van of the Year seven times in the past eight years.
“What a night, and what a 20th birthday present!” said Mercedes-Benz Vans Managing Director Steve Bridge.
“Two decades after the very first vehicle left the factory, and thanks to a continuous programme of product development, the Sprinter continues to lead the field. Once again we’ve left the competition trailing in our wake, and with its impressive capabilities and low costs of operation the Sprinter allows our customers to do likewise in their own market sectors.”
