Mazda have a two-in-three chance of lifting this year’s World Car of the Year crown.
The Mazda CX-30 and the Mazda3 have made it into the final three along with the Kia Telluride, the first time in the history of the World Car of the Year Awards that two models from the same manufacturer have made it into the final three.
The Mazda3 has already won the 2020 World Car Design of the Year Award, and if successful in the World Car of the Year Awards Mazda will repeat the double success they achieved four years ago with the MX-5. Mazda have enjoyed great success in the World Car of the Year Awards in recent years, also winning the title in 2008 with the Mazda2.
Both the all-new compact SUV CX-30 and the current fourth generation Mazda3 are powered by Mazda’s innovative Skyactiv-X compression ignition petrol engine, as well as the ‘human-centric’ cabin designed to cut noise and increase comfort.
The winner will be decided by an 86-strong panel of motoring journalist from across the globe, and announced at the rescheduled New York International Auto Show in August.
