The Skoda Kodiaq has earned the maximum five stars for safety after undergoing Euro NCAP crash tests.
The large SUV joins its Skoda siblings the Octavia, Fabia, Rapid, Citigo, Yeti, and Superb in achieving top marks for safety.
The Kodiaq scored 92% for adult occupant safety, performing exceptionally well in the side-barrier collision test. Spinal protection in the event of a rear-impact collision was also praised highly by the test engineers. The standard emergency brake system performed well at low speeds, while maximum points we given for the protection to pedestrians’ legs that the bumper offers.
The Skoda Kodiaq boasts no less than 9 airbags, alongside three-point seat belts with belt tensioners and the ISOFIX system, automatic hazard light activation, automatic door unlocking, and automatic fuel supply cut-off in the event of a collision. Crew Protect Assist further protects the occupants in a collision, closing the windows and sunroof, and tensioning the front seat belts. Post-collision, the Multi-Collision Brake system prevents the car from continuing to travel in an uncontrolled manner. In addition, the Kodiaq has numerous cameras plus radar and sensor-based systems. Front Assist includes City Emergency Brake, and the Pedestrian Monitor helps to prevent accidents involving pedestrians. The four Area-View system cameras display what is happening in the area directly surrounding the SUV, while the Manoeuvre Assist and Rear Traffic Alert systems provide assistance when visibility is restricted and warn of hidden dangers. Other features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Assist, Blind Spot Detect, Emergency Assist, Traffic Jam Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition.
