Lexus has unveiled its new BMW M4-rivalling RC F coupe ahead of the car's debut at next week's Detroit Motor Show.
The new RC F is due to go on sale next year and will become the most powerful V8 road-going car Lexus has ever built. The firm has not revealed just how much power the car's 5.0-litre V8 engine will produce, claiming only that it will be "well above 450bhp".
The RC F's exterior styling has been heavily influenced by the LFA supercar which ended production last December and has been designed for optimum stability at high speeds. There are wider wheels and tyres, air scoops, cooling ducts and carbon-fibre components, while at the back there's an active rear wing which automatically deploys at 50mph.
Lexus claims that each element delivers "functional beauty" to the overall design.
Inside, the RC F gets a new steering wheel design, leather sports seats and a new instrument cluster dominated by a single dial, which shows different displays depending on which one of the RC F's four driving modes is selected. Lexus has yet to reveal what these modes are.
The RC F will be revealed in Detroit on 14 January.
