The Volkswagen Golf is to be available in GTD spec for the first time, with the 182bhp model set to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
This will be followed by a UK sales launch in April, with deliveries to commence in June, with full pricing and specification details to be confirmed closer to that date.
Its 2.0-litre TDI engine will propel the new Golf GTD Estate from 0-62mph in just 7.9 seconds, yet still offer a claimed 64.2mpg combined fuel economy figure.
Design features such as special GTD bumpers, honeycomb radiator grille, smoked rear lights and flared sills point to the new model’s sporty credentials, and this is accentuated by 17-inch Curitiba alloy wheels, black roof rails, and chrome twin exhaust. The sports suspension on the GTD version of the Golf Estate sees the ride height lowered by 15mm. Inside the cabin are Clark tartan sports seats, illuminated door sills, and black headliner and pillar trims, as well as Checkered Black decorative inserts and stainless steel pedal caps. The multifunction steering wheel has aluminium trim, and there is a golf ball inspired gear knob.
Volkswagen have also announced a selection of the optional extras which will be available on the Golf GTD Estate, including 18-inch Nogaro alloys, a choice of Alcantara or Vienna leather seat covers, and a Sport and Design package featuring red brake callipers and tinted windows.
