The all-new Ford Fiesta has achieved a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating, the maximum score awarded by the independent crash testing organisation.
It scored 87% for adult and 84% for child occupant protection, and full marks in crash tests replicating car-to-car side impact. The Fiesta also impressed in frontal and side-pole crash tests.
The all-new Fiesta boasts a comprehensive package of safety and driver assistance systems, including Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Adjustable Speed Limiter, Lane Keeping Aid, front and rear seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters, front-seat airbag coverage for side head, chest and pelvis, Active Park Assist with Perpendicular Parking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto High Beam, Blind Spot Information System, Cross Traffic Alert, Distance Indication, Driver Alert, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Alert and Traffic Sign Recognition.
Its body features 36% more boron steel for increased strength in key areas such as the central side-pillar upper section. New door cross sections give increased occupant protection against side impact intrusion, and both three and five-door models now include pressure sensors in the doors that enable restraint systems to be activated quicker.
The all-new Fiesta - which is one sale across Europe now - joins the B-MAX, Edge, Focus, Galaxy, Kuga, Mondeo, Ranger, S-MAX, Transit and Tourneo Custom as Ford models with full 5-star Euro NCAP rating.
