Dubai isn't exactly what you'd call a small-time place; from big building to big business and, yes, big cars, Dubai is in fact what you'd call quite a big-time place. So it only seems right that the Dubai police force drive around in a car which mirrors the characteristics of the place.
This is a modified version of the Mercedes G63 AMG which has been designed for use by the Dubai police force. Dubbed the B637 700 Widestar, the car's 5.5-litre biturbo V8 has been tuned to produce 690bhp. 0-60mph takes 4.9 seconds and flat out it'll do 149mph which means that any high-speed police chases should be over relatively quickly.
The Widestar also features huge 23-inch alloy wheels, extra LEDs and Brabus's Dynamic Ride Control suspension system.
Developed as part of the German TUNE IT! SAFE! program, the idea behind the Widestar is to promote responsible vehicle tuning. But if putting 690bhp in a 4x4 is Brabus' idea of responsible tuning, we'd like to see what their idea of irresponsible tuning is.
This isn't the first piece of automotive exotica given to the Dubai rozzers either -- earlier this year the force received the most expensive police car in the world -- a Lamborghini Aventador -- to use mainly for show purposes.
The B637 Widestar will make its debut at the Dubai Motor Show this week.
