Bentley has revealed details of its new Continental GT Speed Convertible ahead of the car's debut at the Detroit Motor Show later this month.
And, with a top speed of 202mph, the new drop-top Continental will be the fastest four-seat convertible in the world.
Under the bonnet, the GT Speed Convertible gets the same twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine as the GT Speed Coupe developing 616bhp and 590lb-ft of torque. This makes for a 0-62mph time of 4.4 seconds -- around two tenths slower than the Coupe -- and a 0-100mph time of just 9.7 seconds.
The GT Speed Convertible features stiffer suspension, bigger anti-roll bars and sharper steering than the previous Continental GTC Speed, and Bentley has lowered the car's suspension by 10mm. A new eight-speed automatic gearbox has also been fitted which can block-shift down through several gears in one go.
The new gearbox, allied to a tweaked engine management system, means that the GT Speed Convertible is around 15 per cent more efficient than its predecessor, returning 19mpg on the combined cycle and emitting 347g/km of CO2.
Visually, the GT Speed Convertible is distinguished by its 21-inch alloy wheels, matrix radiator grille, dark-tint chrome bumpers and air intakes, and its elliptical exhaust pipes which feature a rifled interior.
On the inside, Bentley's Mulliner Driving Specification comes as standard and includes diamond-quilted leather seats, aluminium trim and a host of equipment including DAB radio.
The exact prices have yet to be confirmed, but expect the GT Speed Convertible to cost from around £165,000 when it goes on sale in the summer.
