Henry Ford, the founder of the Ford Motor Company, once said that his customers could have a Model T in any colour, so long as it was black.
Of course, the quote is largely meaningless given that Model Ts were available in a range of colours including red, blue, green and grey; however, one colour which was never on the Model T options list was yellow.
And now, a hundred years later, Ford is still eschewing the virtues of yellow paintwork on its latest Ford Mustang. Until now that is.
Upon noting that buyers could spec their Mustang in blue, red, green, grey, black and white but not yellow, Ford has decided to put this right by commissioning a special new 'Stang in a, erm, striking new shade of gelb.
Called the Project Yellow Jacket Mustang, the new car develops 597bhp and 473lb-ft of torque from its 5.0-litre supercharged V8 thanks to the work of the tuning specialists Vortech.
The Project Yellow Jacket Mustang also gets a new bodykit, carbon-fibre trim, new alloys, beefier suspension and brakes, and a new Webasto electronic sunroof.
The car will be unveiled at next month's SEMA tuner show in Las Vegas, while the standard Ford Mustang is expected to go on sale in Europe next year.
