An official teaser image of the new MINI Hatch has been released, one month before the car is set to make it world debut.
The production version of the new MINI will be unveiled at the company's Oxford factory on 18 November, original MINI creator Sir Alec Issigonis' 112th birthday.
MINI will also be staging simultaneous motor show debuts for the new car at both the Los Angeles and the Tokyo shows.
The image above appears to show a black MINI Cooper S, highlighting the new horseshoe-shaped LED daytime-running lights which will be a design hallmark of the new car.
Based on the new UKL1 platform, the new MINI will be bigger but lighter than the model it replaces and will feature front strut and multi-link rear suspension and adaptive dampers, all of which should mean that the new car will be as fun to drive as its predecessor.
Engine-wise, there'll be a choice of a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol with 134bhp and 162lb-ft of torque, a 2.0-litre four-pot petrol with 189bhp and 206lb-ft of torque and a 1.5-litre diesel with 114bhp and 199lb-ft of torque. All engines will be offered as standard with stop-start and a choice of manual and automatic gearboxes.
The first new MINIs are expected to reach dealerships at the beginning of next year.
