Lexus has revealed the first official pictures of its IS saloon ahead of the car's debut at next week's Detroit Motor Show.

As you can see, the design of the new IS is heavily inspired by the LF-CC concept car first shown at last year's Paris Motor Show, with the car's spindle grille and L-shaped daytime running lights similar to those featured on the concept car. Lexus has also livened up the IS's profile, and the new model looks much more aggressive than its predecessor.

On the inside, Lexus has pinched some design features from the recently-axed LFA supercar, including a moving driver's dial on the instrument panel. Lexus also claims that the driving position in the new IS has been improved and that the new model is more spacious than its predecessor.

A new F Sport model will also be available from launch.

Full details of the new Lexus IS will be revealed when the car is unveiled in Detroit on 15 January. The IS goes on sale here in the UK in June.
