Volkswagen has unveiled its latest concept, the T-Roc, at the Geneva Motor Show, giving a possible insight into the future of the company’s SUV line-up.
Designed to fit into the range below the existing Tiguan SUV, the T-Roc previews a new Golf-sized SUV and follows on from the CrossBlue, CrossBlue Coupe and Taigun concept cars.
The two-door T-Roc features a striking new design which incorporates new LED headlights; however, the car’s most notable feature is its roof, which consists of two halves which can be removed and stowed in the boot, turning the car into a convertible. Front and rear cameras are also fitted to improve the driver’s field of vision.
Under the bonnet, the T-Roc is powered by a 181bhp turbodiesel direct injection engine which returns more than 57mpg. The T-Roc has three different driving modes – Street, Off-road and Snow, each of which varies the settings of the 4Motion all-wheel drive system, seven-speed DSG gearbox, ABS, Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control.
The T-Roc is based on VW’s MQB architecture and weighs just 1,420kg.
There’s no official word on whether the T-Roc will make it into production.
