British sports car maker Trident will display its all-new Iceni at next month's Salon Prive in London.
In case you haven't heard of the Iceni, it's a hand-built Grand Tourer with a 6.6-litre V8 engine.
However, it's no ordinary engine.
While sports cars are traditionally fitted with petrol units, the lump under the Iceni's elegant bonnet runs on diesel. In fact, it runs on just about anything -- diesel, mineral diesel, biodiesel, palm oil or linseed oil.
The engine develops 430bhp and 950lb-ft of torque which translates into a 0-60mph of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of nearly 200mph. On top of this, the engine can also be upgraded to produce 660bhp and 1050lb-ft of torque.
Despite these impressive performance credentials, the Iceni's engine runs at just 980rpm at 70mph and returns 68.9mpg. This means that this full-blooded British sports car will travel over 2000 miles on one tank of diesel. Impressive.
The Iceni is built to order in Norfolk and is priced from £75,000.
Salon Prive 2012 runs from 5th to 7th September at Syon Park in London.
