The next Saab will be in showrooms by 2014, the buyers of the bankrupt Swedish company have confirmed.

National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) bought Saab back in June and have announced that the Saab name will be used on their new range of electric cars. The new car will be an electric vehicle based on the Saab 9-3.

However, while the new car will use the Saab name, the famous Griffin badge and Saab typeface will not be used. This decision was reached after discussions with Scania and the aerospace division of Saab, which operate independently of the defunct Saab Automobile AB.

Saab Defection

NEVS will be hoping to get the new car out as quickly as possible, as Saab owners are defecting from the dormant brand in their droves. Figures released earlier this week show which brands traditional Saab owners are plumping for and, although the chart below only shows information from the American market, it's a good indicator of where former UK Saab owners are spending their money.
