As the Geneva Motor Show kicks off, Land Rover reveals one of its most pioneering vehicles, the Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept.

The Geneva event opened its doors on 6th March, and many car enthusiasts were there to find out details of the newest and latest vehicles that manufacturers are bringing to the market.

On the very first day of the show, Land Rover made the global premiere of its "strongest ever" product portfolio.

Three cars were the real stars of the Land Rover display - the 1,000,000th Land Rover Discovery, the DC100 Defender Concept vehicle, and the Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept.

Range Rover Evoque Convertible Concept

This model was probably the most important debut for Land Rover, as the car is the world's first premium small 4x4 convertible. Its fully retractable premium roof with a Roll Over Protection System [ROPS] aims to simultaneously combine capability and versatility.

The carmaker said that it is now willing to hear the feedback from the public. Land Rover Design Director, Gerry McGovern, commenting on the new car, said:

"We believe that the Evoque lends itself beautifully to the idea of a convertible. From a pure design perspective, we have used Evoque's dramatic shape to create a distinctive and highly desirable proposition."

Land Rover Discovery

"The Land Rover Discovery is surely the most capable and versatile 4x4 in the world. It is our most awarded car ever with over 200 global accolades to date and sales last year up by 15%," commented John Edwards, Land Rover Brand Director.

The car manufacturer introduced the 1,000,000th vehicle to public. The vehicle was driven through Geneva Lake, its first stop on its £1,000,000 fundraising expedition from Birmingham, UK to Beijing, China.

DC100 Defender Concept

The Land Rover DC100 concept was the third Land Rover model to debut in Geneva. The vehicle is designed to help tackle extreme winter conditions such as snow and ice. It includes an automatic i-Terrain device to assess surface conditions and respond accordingly.
