After the successful launch of the United Kingdom’s first ever eco motor show ‘EcoVelocity’ in 2011, the organisers have announced a second show for 2012.

IGME, the organiser of EcoVelocity, has announced that the show will run for a second time this year. The 2012 show will move from last year's venue at Battersea Power Station to ExCel, London, and will run from 10th to 13th May.

The Managing Director of IGME Ltd Giles Brown has said:

"EcoVelocity got off to a fabulous start at Battersea Power Station, and really stood out from other car events. The show featured 17 of the leading low carbon automotive brands and between them 7,000 test drives were taken during the event by enthusiastic show visitors."

"To take the event to the next level, we had to move to a world-class venue, with scope to substantially increase test drive opportunities which were at full capacity during the launch event. ExCel is an outstanding venue, and with nearly 500,000 attending the British Motor Show in 2008, we know how popular it was with both the industry and general public."

"We looked very carefully at dates for the event and concluded that we didn't want to lose our marketing messages alongside the Olympics, and decided that May would be a great time for the event."

The events relationship with Metro, the world's largest free newspaper, is also set to continue for a second year. The Executive Director of Sales and Commercial Development for Metro commented on the relationship, saying:

"With such a strong urbanite readership, Metro was the perfect partner for London-based EcoVelocity, we are delighted to continue our media partnership in 2012. The link with EcoVelocity significantly strengthened our relationships with readers and car manufacturers and we look forward to supporting the event again in 2012 which looks set to be a bigger and improved event."

The EcoVelocity event will feature a range of car manufacturers showcasing their growing ranges of green car models, and will include fully electric cars, hybrid vehicles, and low carbon petrol and diesel engine vehicles. Many of these car makers will be offering test drives of selected vehicles on a special test circuit, allowing visitors to get a better feel for low carbon motoring.

The UK car industry, which has been making serious efforts to reduce its environmental impact, has been highly supportive of the EcoVelocity show since its launch last September, and this support is likely to grow as the show moves into its second year.
