Vauxhall have announced that visitors to the EcoVelocity show, which takes place at Battersea Power Station from next week, will get the chance to test drive a prototype of their new Ampera electric vehicle.
The Ampera is scheduled for launch early next year, with a Voltec propulsion system providing up to 50 miles of motoring on a single charge whilst producing zero tailpipe emissions. It features a range extender, which generates electricity to power the electric motor and sustains minimum charge to the battery pack, which can be used to take the car on journeys of 300+ miles.
Also on display at the EcoVelocity show will be Vauxhall's HydroGen4 concept car, a fourth generation fuel-cell-powered vehicle which uses an electro-chemical reaction to power the electric motor, thereby emitting water vapour only. It is currently undergoing testing in Berlin in real world conditions. In addition, Vauxhall will be showcasing its range of conventionally engined ecoFLEX models, including the congestion charge and road tax beating Corsa ecoFLEX which emits 95g/km.
The EcoVelocity show, the London motorshow for low carbon vehicles, will take place at Battersea Power Station between the 8th and 11th of September.
