The Frankfurt Motor Show this year will see Audi unveil a second, open-top, Spyder version of their innovative new all-electric powered concept car, to add to the recently announced Sportback variant.
The two new concept cars, which will now be shown for the first time in Frankfurt, will be powered by two e-tron electric motors and the construction of the vehicles will focus on making them ultra-light weight. The combination of the battery and the light weight, along with an elaborate new suspension system, will make both the Sportback and the newly announced Spyder car sporty to drive, whilst also being compact and well suited to city driving.
The urban concept cars will represent a radical departure for Audi, as the design is being built entirely from scratch with nothing at all carried over from previous Audi cars.
Constructed from carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP), the appearance of lightweight bodies will also be a big step-change for Audi, featuring large wheels set out from the Chassis amongst other innovations.
The Spyder variant will feature a low, continuous window area and door that open upwards diagonally. Once inside the cabin there are two low-slung seats, and both the pedals and the steering wheel can be adjusted by the driver so that they can find the perfect driving position.
