Chevrolet is using its MiRay concept car to launch its brand in South Korea.
The two-seat MiRay concept car has turned heads at the Seoul Motor Show and sparked inevitable speculation about the next generation of Chevrolet’s Corvette.
However, Chevrolet insist the striking concept car is merely a design exercise in celebration of the brand’s centenary, and the introduction of the marque to the South Korean market where General Motors’ products have previously been badged as Daewoo.
MiRay is a fitting name for the futuristic design – ‘Miray’ is Korean for ‘Future’ – although there are some contemporary styling features. The Chevrolet badge sits on the body-coloured bumper as the centre-piece of a two-part front grille, a look reminiscent of the Orlando MPV.
The hybrid-powered car has a mid-mounted, 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine driving its rear wheels. In addition, two 20bhp electric motors turn the front axle, fed by a lithium-ion battery recharged via regenerative braking.
