Skoda has released the first teaser image of a new concept car, which is due to make its debut at the Worthersee VW enthusiasts' event, which starts tomorrow.

The Skoda Rapid Sport is painted in a distinctly two-tone paint finish, with the right-hand side of the car finished in Steel Grey and the left-hand side of the car painted in Corrida Red. The Rapid sits on 19-inch alloy wheels, which are also finished in grey and red.

In addition to the eye-catching paintwork and huge wheels, the Rapid Sport also gets flared wheelarches, chunky sills, a front splitter and a bigger rear bumper with twin exhaust pipes.

On the inside, Skoda has fitted a sports steering wheel, Recaro seats and illuminated door sills, completing the Rapid's visual transformation.

It's unlikely that the Rapid Sport will see production, at least in its current form, as Skoda claims that it built the Rapid concept purely to "demonstrate the versatility of its model range." It appears to have worked too -- it's amazing to see the difference some big wheels, a bigger bodykit and a sporty paint finish have had on the competent but staid Rapid.

The Worthersee GTI Meeting is held annually in the town of Reifnitz, Austria, and over 200,000 VW Group enthusiasts are expected to turn out for the show this weekend. The show is a chance for VW and its subsidiaries to show off a range of exciting new concepts and production models.
